Nokia is a Finland-based multinational communications company. It was founded in 1871 and its headquarters are currently in Espoo, Finland. The corporation is public and provides telecommunications equipment, computer software and Internet all around the world. The company plays a major role in the Finland country, as it is a major employer within the country and has helped small companies grow through partnerships and subcontracts.

The main products they sell are mobile devices, specifically mobile telephones and other similar communications devices. It also provides Internet services that include music, messaging, games, applications, media, and more. With Siemens, the corporation formed Nokia Siemens Networks, which offers telecommunications network services, solutions and equipment.

As of 2012, the corporation is the second largest vendor of mobile phones, behind Samsung, around the world. Between 1998 and 2012, it was the largest vendor, but the growing demand for smart phones has lowered sales. It has more than 100,000 employees in 120 countries and distributes to 150 countries, collecting an estimated annual revenue of 38 billion euros.

Originally, Nokia phones came loaded with a custom OS, which was made for and by the company exclusively. However, that changed with the Windows alliance in 2011. Now, many of the higher-end and best-selling devices are equipped with the Microsoft Windows Phone OS. Symbian OS is still loaded on the low-end devices.

For a couple years, the business has been split into three main categories: markets, mobile phones and mobile solutions. Each of these sections is given support from the corporate development office, which is also in charge of exploring various growth opportunities. The mobile solutions category handles the portfolio for the company that involves expensive media devices, such as smart phones and mobile computers. This group may also work on projects related to Internet services.

The group mobile phones is involved with the affordable mobile devices portfolio. They also handle the numerous services that users can access through the mobiles, including voice and data products. In the market group, brand, sales, supply chains, delivery of phones and solutions and marking functions are handled.

The official manifesto put in place by this company is The Nokia Way. It is said to symbolize the speed and flexibility of decision-making within this networked organization. The official language for the company is English. There are numerous subsidiaries of this business, the two key ones being Navteq and Nokia Siemens Networks. The Public corporation has been listed with the exact name on the New York and Helsinki stock exchanges. The latter since 1915 and the former since 1994.
