If you are a victim of phone call harassment, then probably you have an idea of how stressful it can become. It may even turn out to be scary if the caller is issuing threats. In this respect, there are a number of guidelines that can be helpful in dealing with such situations.

One very useful trick is to give the caller the silent treatment. It has been proven to work especially in cases where the caller is a stalker. This is because, once you say nothing they will slowly be missing out on what they seek by communicating with you. Over time, there will be a complete loss of interest.

When dealing with a rather persistent caller, it would be worth your while to have evidence of whatever they are saying as well as the time of calling. Simply put, have as much information as you can get about the calls. It may just turn out to be an important source of information later on.

Alternatively, you may just screen all calls from the number. Instead of talking directly to the caller, let their calls go directly to the answering machine. The fact that the caller will not be able to communicate with you directly may compel them to stop harassing you.

In some cases, your service provider may help you to deal with such an issue. Inform them about the caller and they will take necessary steps to ensure that the behavior is stopped. This is because most of them have the capacity to trace and bar calls.

The police should be notified if, in any case, the caller poses any threat. This is standard procedure as most countries consider threatening to be a criminal offence whereby the offender can be persecuted under law. If you had collected any kind of evidence, this would be the time to provide it to the police.

Do not hesitate to notify the police immediately a caller threatens you. You need not wait for a second or third call to report the matter. This is because the police have to take immediate action so as to launch investigations.

A simple way to scare off any nuisance callers is to leave a message on the answering machine that explicitly states that you are using a call trap. If the caller understands that it can record all information about a call, they would stop calling. It is a method that has always seemed to work.

Alternatively, you can change to a brand new number so that the caller is unable to reach you. However, ensure that it is not publicly listed on any kind of database and give it only to your close friends and family members. Consequently, you will have less to worry about if the caller is unable to reach you.

Phone call harassment can be very annoying. It has recently become a very common problem. The trick is to ensure that you use the right strategies that will force the caller to either stop calling or you can take legal action against them.
